We are proud to bring you the freshest hackers. But this does not mean that we have grasped all the good things for the first time. Occasionally, we will be prompted by an old project, which should be covered for the first time. This striking circuit sculpture clock is a perfect example of almost getting away.
The creation is called a “tower” for a good reason: it is built in a huge glass test tube. Pyrex tube is upside down and decorated with MDF disc. It is 5 feet (1.5 meters) high and absolutely filled with electronic products. More than 2100 discrete elements are installed in a spiral frame composed of carefully bent wires to form a vertical sculpture to display time on three pairs of independent seven segment displays. All diode transistor logic circuits are composed of discrete components; No chips are used. In order to increase interest, [gislain] uses LEDs instead of conventional diodes in the circuit. As a result, the light will stay on as the clock runs.
The whole thing looks amazing. Even the power supply of the base can work normally throughout the demonstration. The design is a little different from the circuit sculpture clock before [gislain], but it is equally beautiful and equally incredible in terms of construction difficulty.
Thank [marten] for his late tips on this point.
