According to some estimates, the complexity and severity of network security vulnerabilities continue to increase, and by 2025, the company will lose more than $10 trillion a year.
To help train future cyber security experts to help solve this problem, Washington State University and East Washington University recently set aside more than $2 million from the state’s supplementary operating budget for 2022 to create a cyber security degree program.
WSU will offer a bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity operations at the Portland College of engineering and architecture at Pullman, tri cities and Everett campuses.
At the same time, a master’s degree and two bachelor’s degree programs will be launched in eastern Washington, according to the spokesman’s review.
Most entry-level positions in cybersecurity require at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science or cybersecurity. Seven colleges and universities in Washington state currently offer bachelor’s degrees in cybersecurity and information security.
According to the cyber security department, at the federal level, the Biden government’s budget for fiscal year 2023 includes an 11% increase in cyber security spending.
