Audio-Technica has updated its flagship Bluetooth headset, improved vocal pickup, supports audio transmission through high-quality LDAC and AAC Bluetooth codecs, and multipoint connections. The ATH-M50xBT2 retains the same overall design as the first-generation headset, but this time, the company eliminated the micro USB port for the more modern USB-C input.

Amazon Alexa is embedded in the headset via the button on the left earmuff, and you can even choose a different assistant, such as Google Assistant or Siri. If you are a gamer, the headset supports low latency mode. At the same time, participants in daily conference calls will like the side tone effect, which allows the speaker to hear his own voice during a call.
The controls located on the left earmuff can easily adjust the volume, answer or hang up calls, mute the microphone, and control music playback. The headset also supports “Fast Pair”, allowing listeners to connect the headset to the Android operating system device with a single tap.
Just like the classic wired ATH-M50x, these headphones are equipped with 45mm dynamic drivers. You can expect the same pleasing frequency response as wired and original wireless headphones. Anyone who likes tinkering can adjust the sound quality through the equalizer in the AT Connect app, although most people will be very satisfied with the default sound profile. The app also provides users with options to affect left/right channel balance, find headphones, select preferred Bluetooth codec, and more.
M50xBT2 can provide up to 50 hours of continuous playback time, an improvement of 10 hours over the previous one, and supports fast charging. Only 10 minutes of charging can provide 180 minutes of playback time, which is sufficient for most commuting to and from work. Don’t forget these headphones that double as wired headphones: if the battery runs out or you want to enjoy latency-free and lossless audio, you can plug the included cable into the headphone jack of your device.
Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT2 comes with USB-C cable, 1.2m cable and carrying bag. This headset is available in black and retails for $199.
