Binary clock makes Nixies shine

Posted on August 29, 2021 by William

We are not talking about another clock here. Well, we are, but the point is not whether it can tell the time, but to draw a simple idea to an elegant conclusion. In all these aspects, [Marcin Saj] Produced a Beautiful itemMost digital clocks we see are based on 10, but it uses a dozen replaceable units based on 2 to emit a lot of warm light.

There are three lines for hours, minutes, and seconds. The top and bottom rows are respectively marked with “H” and “S” displayed on the IN-15B tube, while the middle row displays “M” on the IN-15A tube. The advantages and disadvantages of the IN-12 model will light up, so you need 18 of them for a complete light show, but you can save and use 16 in 12-hour mode because you don’t need to count to 24. We will not explain how to read the time in binary form, because you know, you are already here. The laser-cut acrylic is very beautiful, there is transparent plastic beside those shiny digital tubes, but you have to recreate the file or buy the cut parts, because we can’t find the vector file in the code and schematic.

Stupid rabbit, digital tubes are not only used for clocks. You can do it yourself, but they are not trifling.
