Want to know if your Fitbit Charge 4 charger is suitable for the new Charge 5? The unfortunate answer is no, it will not. The comfort is that your new equipment should not be juicing often. However, depending on the other items you have, you may still have an extra charger on hand.
Fitbit Charge 5 cannot use Charge 4 charger
Many important hardware and software upgrades of Fitbit Charge 5 may even allow Charge 4 users to revisit. The change from the former to the latter shows a significant jump in the Charge series, especially when compared to the smaller changes we saw between Fitbit Charge 3 and Charge 4. For better or worse, a substantial update means saying goodbye to certain compatibility.
One of the many changes in the new Fitbit Charge 5 is its proprietary charger. The size adjustment (thinner and more stylish) means that the device is not compatible with the charger of its predecessor. Instead, Charge 5 will be equipped with a magnetic charging cable that fits its smaller frame. The good news is that even with an AMOLED display and advanced sensors, users can still get the convenience of long battery life. According to Fitbit, the device can be used for up to 7 days with a single charge.

Fitbit Luxe charger can be used
If you think Fitbit’s latest device can be used with the Charge 4 charger, then you may not be alone. However, for users who are concerned about Fitbit e-waste management, there will be some overlap (just not what we expected). Although some design elements of Fitbit Charge 5 are borrowed from Fitbit’s high-end devices, the charger is borrowed from the Fitbit Luxe series. Fortunately, this means that the latest Fitbit trackers are compatible with Luxe chargers.
We still hope that eventually, Fitbit will simplify their chargers to be interchangeable. At the same time, please make sure you have the right equipment for your device.
