- The recent Fossil Gen 5 software update inexplicably deleted dozens of watch faces.
- If you use one of the deleted faces, your watch will start using the default face.
- Fossil also seems to have added two new faces, but it is difficult to explain why more faces were removed.
Recently, Fossil has adopted the usual Play Store system (via Nine pairs of five Google). The update seems to include two new watch faces: “Fitness Digital” and “Dashboard Digital”.
Nevertheless, the update seems to have deleted no less than 33 watch faces. This seems to mainly affect Fossil Gen 5, but may also affect other models in the series, such as Fossil Gen 5E and its LTE variants.
We see the removed watch face here:

If you use one of the faces on Fossil Gen 5, you should see the default face. Obviously, if you look for a face you have used, it will no longer exist.
After this large-scale removal, it seems that there are only 24 dials left. Ouch.
It’s not clear why Fossil eliminated so many faces. Maybe this is related to the upcoming Wear OS 3? This seems to be a possibility, but we are sure that Wear OS 3 will not appear in Fossil Gen 5 models. Now, if you lose your favorite, all you can do is find yourself a new watch face.
