How much memory in a smartphone is good enough for you?

Posted on August 23, 2021 by William

In terms of RAM, flagship Android phones seem to be raising the stakes every year. More than ten years ago, 1GB or even 512MB was considered a large amount of RAM for high-end mobile phones. Fast forward to 2021 and we have already seen phones with 16GB or even 18GB of RAM.

However, how much RAM is enough for you? Are you satisfied with the 2GB or 3GB memory of your phone, or do you need more memory? Tell us by voting below.

There are many reasons why you need more RAM, of which multitasking is the biggest reason. More RAM usually allows more applications to be saved in the background. A phone with minimal memory can only handle a few applications at a time before the application needs to be completely reloaded.

Again, there is indeed a point, that is, having a lot of RAM does not really affect the actual use. When talking about performance, there are other factors to consider, such as the type of RAM, processor, and storage type.

We have also seen more companies offering “virtual RAM” solutions, basically treating a few gigabytes of onboard storage as additional RAM (ie swap files). The storage speed is not as fast as RAM, but it will definitely help if your phone’s multitasking capabilities are not up to the requirements.

Nevertheless, please give us your opinion by voting above, and if you have more to say, please submit a comment below.
