The Seattle flight museum said it would be the first stop for the full-scale replica road trip of NASA’s perseverance Rover and dexterous helicopter, showing the hardware version currently working on Mars 242 million miles away.
In February, SUV sized Rovers and drone sized piggyback helicopters landed on the red planet. Since then, they have been investigating the terrain of jezro crater. Scientists suspect that jezro crater has a potentially habitable Lake in ancient times. This ingenious helicopter began its exploratory flight in April.
The models will be displayed at the Charles Simone Space Museum of the flight Museum on October 30. Representatives from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory will attend the opening ceremony, marking the beginning of NASA’s one-year “persistent roaming” Museum roadshow.
Another rover will participate in the exhibition of the Seattle part of the tour: the full-scale model of the flight Museum, NASA’s “traveler Rover”, which played a leading role in the Mars Pathfinder mission in 1997. The museum also plans a video display of perseverance images and special activities on Mars exploration.
The stopover in Seattle during the “willpower roaming” tour will last until April 3. At the same time, more solid models will be sent to other museums across the country. The following is the complete schedule listed in the flight Museum press release:
