Name and release date

We own the Samsung Galaxy Fold and recently introduced the Galaxy Z Fold 2 nickname. So will Samsung change the name of its foldable product line again? We don’t think so. In fact, there is already evidence that it will launch the latest version of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 (see the next section for more information).

As for the release date of the folding screen, Samsung will hold its iconic Unpacked event on August 11. Samsung confirmed that it will skip the Galaxy Note this year, but will launch two folding screens. We expect the company to announce the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 at the event. It may also launch the latest Galaxy Watch and a new set of Galaxy Buds.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3: Design
We first saw a foldable product in May, and it did not bring much surprise. The so-called publicity renderings from Twitter show that this foldable phone will still open like a book and adopt a similar style to the Galaxy Z Fold 2.
A clear image of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 was provided by the whistleblower Evan Blass on June 24. The rendering includes an S Pen, indicating that the foldable may not only support the stylus, but also come with it. Considering that Samsung will not launch Note devices this year, this also makes sense. Although this effectively makes Z Fold 3 a replacement for this year’s Note, there is no slot to store it in a foldable device. Early rumors and recent renderings indicate that this may not be possible.
Speaking of recent renderings, people are 91 mobile phones Obtained a rendering of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 S Pen protective case, further indicating that the phone may not have a dedicated accessory storage slot. You can see the case presentation below.
Later, we saw more leaked renderings, although this time they were CAD based. These photos also show the color schemes Samsung may offer, including green, silver and black. Later leaks reiterated these options.
Win the future Later added to the leak library. This time, the German publication let us look at the foldable cover and internal display. These lenses provide more evidence that punch-hole cameras will be replaced by cameras with insufficient displays on folding screens.
Once again, it seems unlikely that you will store the S Pen in your phone. Samsung may use the same method as the Galaxy S21 Ultra and sell a case with a stylus slot.
Specifications and features

Galaxy Z Fold 3 recently passed the FCC, revealing some key new features. This list confirms the existence of S Pen support, UWB support, NFC, sub-6GHz and millimeter wave connections, and reverse charging up to 9W. Interestingly, there is also MST technology, which is a boon for Samsung Pay users. However, it is not clear whether it will be supported in all countries.
The FCC also confirmed that it contains Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, which may be Snapdragon 888. We also learned from the previous list that chargers certified for mobile phones will support 25W charging.
This trick also reveals the camera hardware of the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Blass reiterated an earlier leak, suggesting that the phone will be equipped with three 12MP cameras. If it is true, Galaxy Z Fold 3 will not be able to record 8K video. The phone needs a sensor with a capacity of at least 33MP to achieve this.

A 10MP cover selfie camera is also set up. However, there are rumors that the camera sensor under the display is only 4MP. This is contrary to the early leaks directed to the 16MP sensor. According to the leaker Ice Universe, the off-screen camera is “not bad”, but it still doesn’t reach the level of a traditional selfie camera. Presumably, Samsung is polishing this special camera for video calls rather than selfies.
Per Blass, the folding screen will also be equipped with a 7.6-inch foldable display, which is used in conjunction with a 6.2-inch cover display.
Samsung will obviously provide two S Pen models for use with the Galaxy Z Fold 3, namely the S Pen Pro and the folding version. The latter option may be compatible with the leaked phone case.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3: Price and availability
David Immel/Android Authority
Samsung did not significantly increase the price of its flagship products in 2021, so we believe that the price of Galaxy Z Fold 3 will not increase significantly. Its predecessor made its debut at a price of $1,999, which is similar in price to the original Galaxy Fold.
Samsung does not have too many foldable competitors, so there is no need to consider the pricing of Galaxy Z Fold 3 competitors. However, considering that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is designed to attract Galaxy Note users to upgrade, a slight price reduction will definitely help.
Samsung may also update its trade-in program for those who want to replace the Galaxy Fold or Galaxy Z Fold 2 with a new model. It seems that Samsung may also allow users to trade more than one device (phone, tablet, smart watch) for its foldable flagship product.
As for availability, the device is expected to be available globally shortly after its debut on August 11. However, it is not yet clear how the global shortage of chipsets will affect the pace of launch.
Chinese users may receive a customized Galaxy Z Fold 3 renamed Galaxy W22 5G, but the device may only be launched in November.
