Although this is not a suitable tool for this work, we have all used flat head Screwdrivers for other purposes. Admit it – you pried open one or two dirty things with the one in the toolbox. But usually, the screwdriver is not thin enough. What you need is a shovel. For some reason, it seems to be only plastic. Blame our one-time time.
In a break related to building electronics, [lonesoursurfer] spent time making a set of spudger and other products with second-hand silver. These are made of used store spoons and butter knives. For spoons, [lonesoursurfer] removes the spoon head with an angle grinder, grinds it into shape on an abrasive belt grinder, and thins it until it becomes as thin as a spudger. After the same operation on the handle end, [lonesoursurfer] polished the new tool on the wheel with some compound.
Not all of these are excavators – some are destined to scrape, while others are used to lift badges and decals. But they all live in a convenient suitcase. View the build video after a break.
On the other hand, sometimes all you really need is disposable tools.
