T-Mobile is strengthening its 5g blitz through a series of investments for small companies and developers, including the construction of a 24000 square foot “5g center” near its headquarters in Bellevue, Washington.
T-Mobile has spent millions of dollars selling its 5g features to consumers, including a Super Bowl advertisement for competitors last month. Now it wants to attract the builders of the company.
On Wednesday, the wireless operator launched devedge, a development platform to help start-ups access T-Mobile’s 5g network.
Neville ray, President of T-Mobile technology, said: “we feel that the network is ready for developers to really promote a new round of innovation and capability.”.
At the same time, 5g center allows developers to test 5g technology and cooperate with T-Mobile engineers. Located in the Spring Festival District of Bellevue, the center is a large office of Facebook palm meta and the Global Innovation exchange center of the University of Washington.
T-Mobile also announced that its T-Mobile ventures fund will make new investments in startups signalwire and kubernetes enterprise management platform spectrocloud, which develop communication application APIs.
Although T-Mobile, Verizon and at & amp; T has spent billions of dollars on 5g related marketing and infrastructure over the past few years, but there are no essential applications that require high-speed connectivity – at least not yet.
But T-Mobile executives remain optimistic, especially because nearly 50% of its network traffic is now on 5g.
“Sometimes the most destructive things happen to you quietly before you realize it,” said John saw, executive vice president for advanced and emerging technologies at T-Mobile.
Saw pointed out how 4G and LTE help the development of enterprises such as Uber and snapchat.
“Neville and I are involved in every” g “in the wireless field. 5g is the first to be developed from scratch to help enterprises and transform enterprises with low latency and high bandwidth,” saw said.
T-Mobile also used its 5g network to sell high-speed Home Internet services and enabled the first 5g connected cars.
The company also cooperates with Microsoft and Intel in 5g open innovation laboratory (Seattle regional entrepreneurship program), and provides 5g access services for couthstudio laboratory at the University of Washington.
