- TCL introduced the first TV based on Google TV.
- Unlike Android TV models, 5 series and 6 series TVs use QLED and mini-LED technology to pack more advanced screens.
- The 5 series starts at $599.99, while the 6 series climbs to $949.99.
As you might guess, the Google TV experience is the core of the new TCL models. Google’s front-end aggregated content makes it easier to find movies and shows regardless of the application or service. You will also get hands-free Google Assistant support to control your TV and smart home devices.
The 5 series is the “starter” option in the TCL Google TV product line, but it is still higher than the basic 3 and 4 series Android devices. You will find 4K QLED panels in 50, 55, 65 and 75 inch sizes that support Dolby Vision HDR (plus HDR10 and HLG) and Dolby Atmos sound effects. You will also find an automatic game mode and four HDMI ports, one of which has eARC to improve sound quality.

Upgrade to the 6 series Google TV model, you will mainly see TCL improve the image quality. 55-inch, 65-inch and 75-inch 4K TVs are equipped with mini LED backlights to provide better contrast. If you are a gamer, you might also like the THX-certified game mode, which promises low latency combined with excellent image quality.
The price is largely in line with the competition. The 50-inch pre-order price of TCL 5 series Google TV models starts at 599.99 US dollars, and the pre-order price of the 75-inch giant is up to 1,299.99 US dollars. At the same time, the price of the 6-series 55-inch panel starts at US$949.99, and the price of the 75-inch version climbs to US$1,799.99. These will not compete with TCL’s own 8 series or high-end 8K and OLED TV competitors, but they can strike a healthy balance between image quality and cost.
It is worth noting that TCL is at least currently selling comparable Roku TVs with the Google version. This is a rare choice-you can choose a TV based on your favorite software ecosystem, not just the specifications that meet your needs.
