In the past few years, hover board has been an indispensable material for hackers to make their own vehicles. [Mahmut demir] shows how he built a go kart driven by an air cushion board for his son. Unable to crack the firmware of the skateboard, he turned to reuse the air cushion skateboard without any disassembly, and integrated it into the frame of the go kart. This build is completely mechanical and is known for its simplicity – the attached six minute video shows it all.
The frame of this go kart is made of wood. It is well constructed and has the personal style expected by father and son. Making the car head with garbage cans made us giggle, and gained extra points for thrift. The smiling face wheel is a lovely detail. As for the “hover board reuse” part, the board is pivoted back and forth, just like normal. The go kart uses not a foot, but a lever, which is driven by two pedals through a pulley block to provide accurate speed control and reverse ability. This is a smart system. In fact, we don’t know whether we can do better. When [mahmat] completes the assembly step, you can see [mahmat]’s son wandering in the background – no doubt he played his part in the construction process.
[Mahmut] told us that he also added a remote off switch as a safety function, and we are grateful for that. We have seen air cushion boards in the manufacture of go karts, as well as walkers, electric bicycles, robot vehicles and even mobile platforms. Really, the hovercraft is the unicorn of the hacker’s transport assistant.
