- Vivo officially launched the camera-centric X70 series.
- The top-level Vivo X70 Pro Plus brings a new quad camera setup, Snapdragon 888 Plus and water resistance to the desktop.
- At the same time, the X70 Pro and X70 are equipped with smaller displays and Dimensity 1200 SoC, starting at less than $600.
After weeks of notices and leaks, Vivo’s freshest top smartphone series is now officially available. The new Vivo X70 series introduces a new design and upgraded internal structure on the basis of the X60 series focusing on photography.
From an aesthetic point of view, the X70 series is not a fundamental transformation of the X60 series. These devices now use “crystal glass with a prism surface” that sparkles in light and has a new finish. The rear camera design of the Vivo X70 and X70 Pro has also been slightly adjusted, and the flash is now placed vertically and separated from the sensor array. The top X70 Pro Plus also gets a more prominent camera hump, installed in a protective “ceramic window” that doubles as a selfie mirror.

Vivo X70 Pro Plus also has the biggest changes in specifications. The most obvious upgrade is the larger, curved 6.78-inch AMOLED display made by Samsung. It also includes variable refresh rate support from 1Hz to 120Hz, 3,200 x 1,440 resolution, 1,500 nits peak brightness, and 10-bit color support.
However, the quad camera array of the X70 Pro Plus is not. It incorporates a high transmittance lens and a 50MP Samsung GN1 sensor in the main camera. It is equipped with a 48MP 114-degree ultra-wide gimbal shooter, which brings Vivo’s 360-degree horizon level stability intelligence. Even if the phone is moving or rotating, this function can effectively keep the shooting in a vertical orientation. These cameras are supported by a 12MP portrait camera with 60x zoom and an 8MP periscope camera, both with OIS. V1’s self-developed V1 imaging chip also brings additional noise reduction and MEMC effects to the camera array.
Zeiss’s involvement is also more obvious in terms of camera software. The company introduced three new Style Portrait flavors inspired by historical lenses. This includes deformed Distagon and bokeh-heavy Planar and Sonnar effects. It also includes a variety of shooting modes, including professional movie mode, super night scene video and pure night scene.
In addition to photography, X70 Pro Plus also made headlines in terms of processing power. It is equipped with Snapdragon 888 Plus SoC with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The power supply is provided by a 4,500mAh battery, which can be charged using a 55W wired or 50W wireless FlashCharge system.
The phone also has IP68 waterproof and dustproof functions. Other advantages of X70 Pro Plus include dual stereo speakers, X-axis haptic system and infrared transmitter.
vivo X70 and X70 Pro
X70 Pro streamlines the camera hardware, but also provides a four-camera setup, and the Sony IMX766V 50MP sensor is in a leading position. It is equipped with a 12MP 116-degree ultra-wide-angle camera, a 12MP 50mm portrait lens and an 8MP sensor. The array also received the company’s impressive video and still image gimbal stabilization technology. The vanilla X70 adapts to the three rear cameras by abandoning the 8MP shooting game.
Both phones are equipped with a 6.56-inch display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz. This smaller screen is also installed in a more compact body. The X70 Pro has a thickness of 7.99 mm and a weight of 185 grams. The X70 weighs 181 grams and its thickest point is 7.55 mm.
MediaTek Dimensity 1200 is the preferred chipset for two mobile phones equipped with LPDDR4 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The larger Vivo X70 Pro has a battery capacity of 4,450mAh, while the vanilla model has a battery capacity of 50mAh. However, both share 44W wired charging support.
It is worth noting that Exynos 1080 models of X70 and X70 Pro can also be used, but the name is X70T.
