- ASUS may be developing ROG Phone 5S devices.
- This device may replace the standard Snapdragon 888 with Snapdragon 888 Plus.
- Otherwise, it looks almost identical to ROG Phone 5.
Asustek launched the ROG Phone 5 series earlier this year, bringing a very eye-catching gaming phone to the market. What if you need more grunts? Well, it seems that Asustek is preparing to release an upgraded version of the phone.
Frequent leaker Mukul Sharma Posted a picture On Twitter, the obvious Asus ROG Phone 5S was mentioned. We are not sure about the source of the image, so we recommend that you use it with caution. But Sharma usually has a good track record of leaks. You can view a screenshot of the tweet below.
It seems that the most important upgrade may be the switch to the Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset. Compared with the standard Snapdragon 888, this provides a slight heavyweight CPU clock speed and improved machine learning performance, everything else is the same.
The rest of the claimed ROG Phone 5S specifications seem to be consistent with ROG Phone 5 devices. But this is not necessarily a bad thing, because the 144Hz OLED screen, 6,000mAh battery and 65W charging are still great additions in 2021.
The 16GB to 18GB RAM and 256GB to 512GB storage figures also indicate that if these are indeed the only RAM/storage variants, then it is more expensive than the vanilla ROG Phone 5. The standard ROG Phone 5 provides 8GB to 16GB of RAM and 128GB to 256GB of storage space.
There is no news about the release window, but we guess that the device is still a few weeks away from the official release.
