This may surprise some people, but humans have actually evolved into long-distance runners. Comparatively speaking, we don’t run very fast, but no other animal can run as long or as far as human beings. On the other hand, sitting at the desk is definitely not something we are used to doing, so it is very important to take some measures to avoid many problems of those who sit at the desk or at the computer most of the day. This construction brings it to the extreme, not only realizing the vertical desk, but also realizing a lot of automation of the desk.
This project is an improvement of the WiFi vertical table controller previously built by [TJ Horner]. This new version has a more attractive name and uses esp32 to run the program. The shell is 3D printed, and the control board includes usb-c and hardware UART interface with the controller. However, the real benefit of this equipment is automation. If the user sits too long, the table can be raised automatically, and if no one is detected at home, it can also be raised automatically (for example, help the cat stay away from the table). It also includes presets for different users and can export data to other software to help analyze sitting and standing patterns.
The controller design is open source and can be applied to various electric desks. As we have seen in the past, with the increase of motors, even manual crank vertical desks can be upgraded. If you haven’t entered the trend of standing desk yet, we hope you will run at least occasionally.
