You won’t be able to choose the processor of Samsung’s new foldable phone

  • Samsung is equipping the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 with the same Snapdragon 888 chip.
  • As with past foldable products, there will be no Exynos options.
  • 888 Plus may not have much success in these devices.

When the company’s past foldable products only apply to Snapdragon, this news is not surprising. Nevertheless, if you are not sure whether you will get the same processor as everyone else in the Galaxy Z Fold 3 or Flip 3, this will help solve this problem. This may also be reassuring-people complain about the low performance of Samsung phones based on Exynos.

However, unlike last year, these are not enhancements. Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 use the same basic Snapdragon 888 processor as the Galaxy S21 series, instead of the recently launched 888 Plus. At least, you might not object to older chips. The only real improvement in 888 Plus is the slight jump in clock speed and AI processing.

We do not hope that this position on processor selection will continue to the Galaxy S22 or other future Samsung mobile phones. However, it does simplify your shopping choices, and it ensures a consistent experience no matter where you are.
