Musk recently established an artificial intelligence (AI) company called X.AI in Nevada, aiming to compete with Open AI, the development company of chat robot ChatGPT.
According to Nevada filings, Musk is the sole director of X.AI, and Jared Berchal, the director of the Musk family office, is the company’s secretary.
In addition, the news shows that Musk is recruiting engineers from top AI laboratories, including DeepMind. So far, Musk has successfully invited former DeepMind employee Igor Babuschkin, as well as approximately 6 other engineers. In the future, X.AI can also use Twitter content as data to train its language model and obtain computing resources from Tesla
It is worth mentioning that according to previous reports from IT Home, Musk is one of the co founders of OpenAI. At the beginning of its establishment, the company was a non-profit organization with the task of establishing a safe artificial intelligence environment and ensuring that this widespread artificial intelligence is distributed as widely and evenly as possible, benefiting the majority of people together. However, Musk left OpenAI in 2018, and his public explanation was to focus on Tesla’s operations.
