Welcome to the 396th edition of Android Apps Weekly. Here are the headlines from last week:
- Chinese children cannot play for as long as they want. The new restriction only allows one hour of video games to be played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This is to quell some game addiction problems in China. There are real data showing that gaming addiction is real, so in theory, this is not the worst idea. However, this new law gives parents little say in this matter.
- A hacker recreated Google Maps on the original Nintendo. There is nothing to say about this story except that it is kind of cool. Obviously, the system renders the map in 8-bit, which looks like a JRPG world map in the late 1980s. Click the link to view it for yourself.
- Google will eventually add Quick Phrase support to Google Assistant. This new feature allows you to assign phrases to various actions without the need for “OK/Hey Google” startup instructions. There are some security issues, because there are always some who listen to you 24/7. However, in any case, the assistant has been listening to popular words 24/7, so I hope the quick phrase feature is useful.
- The official release date of Windows 11 is October 5, 2021. However, this version does not support Android applications. Microsoft intends to test Android application support through the Windows Insider program in the next few months. When the problem is resolved, it may see the full version. This is part of Microsoft’s phased and measured approach to Windows 11 versions.
- South Korea passed a bill to force the Play Store and Apple App Store to allow certain payment systems to pass the application. This is the latest story of a saga that began with Fortnite’s developer Epic Games, suing Google and Apple for taking too much of their profit pie. We reported on the antitrust lawsuit filed in the United States a few weeks ago, and the United States is likely to pass a similar bill.

Purrfect Tale is a cute life game. The player starts the game as a student who adopts a cat. The cat turned out to be a boy, and you established a life with that boy. The game appears in the form of a series of interactive comics. The choices you make affect the outcome of the game and small things like what to wear and what to do. The game loop consists of three main parts. In terms of comedy, daily small activities, and play the storyline. Overall, this is a relaxing experience.
Major League Baseball The Show 21 Companion App

MLB The Show 21 Companion App is exactly what the name of the app implies. What it lets you do is then reflected in the game. Some examples include searching for cards, managing your watch list, and viewing card details. It also has a news section, information about game updates, and more. The app does seem to need some polishing, and there are a lot of complaints about the login process. I personally do not play MLB 21 The Show, so my testing is limited.
Beat Star

Beatstar is a brand new rhythm game. The difference between this song and most other songs is that the song is related to popular culture. It has hundreds of songs by popular artists, simple controls, and it has enough bright colors and animations to make everything exciting. The actual rhythm part of the mechanism is very basic. You can click or swipe the notes based on the symbols you see on the chart. Players unlock songs by performing well in unlocked songs. It’s actually pretty good, and popular songs feel familiar.

Web browser developer Opera is trying to develop a sports score application. This is specifically for European football. It has real-time scores of more than 10,000 matches in more than 1,000 leagues. You can also get notifications, news, tee times, statistics, etc. The application design is basic but effective. Statistics and information are arranged in a consistent way that is easy to read. It is very suitable for football fans’ existing application choices.
Budapest murder

The Budapest Murder is the latest game from the developers of Buff Studio, Buff Knight, Underworld Office and 7Days. This is a visual novel game. Players go through each chapter of the game to find out who the murderer is. The game also has many types. You will see some RPG mechanics, arcade mechanics and other similar mechanics. The mix of genre and visual novel style helps to make the game more interesting. There is a ticketing system that is easy to circumvent by watching advertisements. Otherwise, it is a reliable visual novel game.
