Has the clear sound of Lego blocks excavated entered your heart? Does the more complex catalogue of technical works make your imagination fly to the stratosphere or even further? Judging from the clever device in the video below, we are quite sure (Marian) can be connected to these things.
No doubt, inspired by the classic orrries driven by clocks and watches, the LEGO Sun Moon orrries of [Marian] are driven by hand cranks or motors. Orrry’s goal is astronomical correctness. In order to achieve this goal, a complete rotation of the hand crank produces a whole day’s movement.
You can demonstrate solar and lunar eclipses, as well as many other principles, such as earth tilt, lunar phase, tidal locking, etc., which can be found on the project page.
Although the classical orry series is earlier than the Victorian era, there seems to be an almost unexplainable connection between the orry series and Steampunk aesthetics. But (Marian’s) orrry reminds people of the word “LEGO punk”. Could it be? Considering that there are 2305 instructions and 264 page instructions, including 436 steps, we think so!
We have only discussed orrries in the past, from this somewhat simple laser cutting orrry to this terrible complex and beautiful thing.
