Given all the future technologies we currently have, it seems strange that most passenger cars are essentially the same as they were a century ago. Four wheels, a motor and some seats seem to be an insurmountable formula. But in the field of 3D printing, rapid prototyping is the name of the game, and some unique vehicle designs have been launched, especially in the RC world. The latest one is a single wheeled RC motorsled from [rclifeon].
Although it is not a traditional snowmobile with tracks, this snowmobile does have some similarities. It has a drive wheel printed with TPR on the back to improve flexibility, and it has studs on the whole circumference to provide better traction on the ice. In front are some runners made of old skates. The car is used for steering. All runners are connected with an RC controller and some lithium batteries to operate the steering and drive motors.
There were some design flaws in the first iteration of the vehicle, including excessive turning radius, excessive gear torque, and too flexible chain driven frame. [rclifeon] also tested this on a lake that looks about to return to liquid, which made some interesting video clips for him to retrieve the stuck vehicle with branches and ropes. All in all, we hope to make a second revision in the future, when these problems will be solved. This unique vehicle can really cross the frozen garbage, which is no different from another interesting snowmobile ten years ago.
