- According to reports, Samsung will bring 108MP cameras to the Galaxy A series.
- It is said that the sensor will appear on the Galaxy A73 next year.
Samsung first launched the 108MP camera on last year’s Galaxy S20 Ultra, and it has been a fixture for the company’s Ultra flagship product ever since. But it seems that the company may be preparing to introduce this technology to its cheaper smartphones.
electronic According to reports, Samsung will be equipped with a 108MP camera on the Galaxy A73 smartphone in 2022. The South Korean-based media did not quote the source of the statement, but it has a good record of leaks related to Samsung.
The outlet added that the camera will have optical image stabilization (OIS), which is consistent with its earlier report that Galaxy A series phones will have OIS in 2022.
There is no news about the exact model of the camera sensor we will see on the Galaxy A73, so there is no guarantee that we will see the same sensor on Samsung’s Ultra phones. Nevertheless, this is still a higher resolution camera than the Galaxy A72’s 64MP primary snapshot.
Pros and cons of 108MP camera
When shooting at full resolution, the 108MP sensor provides more detailed photos in broad daylight, although this does come at the cost of a larger file size. These sensors also have smaller photo sites than high-end 48MP and 50MP cameras, but Samsung uses four-in-one and nine-in-one pixel binning to achieve better low-light shooting.
Another side effect of the 108MP sensor is that shooting at full resolution usually results in longer processing times. Even last year’s Galaxy Note 20 Ultra (Exynos model) had a continuous shooting time of about two seconds when shooting at 108MP. This delay is not bad, but the chip performance of mid-range phones is usually poor, so we hope that Samsung will optimize the Galaxy A73 chipset in this regard to maintain reasonable processing time.
Nevertheless, if you want a good camera with a limited budget, it seems that you should pay attention to the Galaxy A series phones in 2022.
