Around the world, many governments are experimenting with incentives to encourage citizens to get the COVID-19 vaccine. In the United States, local governments are trying various measures, including hard cash. President Joe Biden even suggested that every citizen should get $100 to get the COVID vaccine.
In Washington, DC, the Mayor’s Office Just announced An incentive plan directly oriented to young people (h/t Adoration of Mike). Anyone between 12 and 17 years old can get a free set of AirPods in exchange for their first shot. The only rule (apart from age) is that you must bring your parents/guardians and shoot in one of three locations within the city limits.

Even if you do not meet the age requirement, you still have a chance to get free AirPods. The program is also open to students between the ages of 18 and 21 who are studying for a high school diploma.
If you are a cool teenager who already owns a set of AirPods — or have some of these great alternatives — you can pass this gift out and get a $51 gift card. No matter which one you choose, you can participate to win a scholarship of US$25,000.
Essentially, if you are an unvaccinated teenager in the DC area, then you have every reason to get vaccinated now. If the free AirPods cannot do this, we are not sure what will happen.
