In addition to being known for providing one of the best Android experiences with its clean OxygenOS, OnePlus also introduced popular applications and features such as Clipt, WellPaper, Canvas AOD and Zen Mode. Between them, they got hundreds of thousands of downloads in the Google Play store and spread word of mouth from OnePlus users to the entire Android community.
Many of these applications and functions come from OneLab, a creative engine within OnePlus, composed of UI/UX designers, product managers and developers from all over the world. The team is focused on developing exciting new features to enhance the software experience for OnePlus users and other users.
We interviewed Crayon Hsieh, Head of OneLab, and Sam Twist, Senior Product Manager of OneLab, to talk about OnePlus and OneLab.
Interviewer: So, the integration of OxygenOS and ColorOS: What does this mean for American audiences?
Thanks: A key change brought about by the integration of OxygenOS and ColorOS is improved software maintenance. OnePlus flagship products have always received solid support, but now the company shows more love for its Nord N series and older devices.
First, the flagship OnePlus 8 series, including 8T, will receive three major Android updates and four years of security support. The same is true for the updated OnePlus 9. You can look forward to three years of security support and a major Android version of the Nord N terminal.
OxygenOS is one of the cleanest Android skins-this is exactly how users like it. In order to maintain this state, OnePlus has been looking for new ways to continue to bring users into the development cycle. One of the most attractive methods is to use OneLab, a startup company within OnePlus.
OneLab was originally launched as a research group within OnePlus with the purpose of establishing connections with users around the world, but it has evolved to improve the user experience through feedback and well-designed applications. It has always been the core of development such as Zen Mode, Bitmoji AOD and Insight AOD (developed in cooperation with Parsons School of Design), and is also developing their own applications such as Clipt and even WellPaper.
Interviewer: We noticed that Zen mode has become popular not only among OnePlus users but also among owners of other devices. Can you tell us some information about that application?
Thanks: The clever thing about Zen Mode is that it lets you put down your phone. It was launched in 2019 to help users shift their attention to other tasks, such as work, board games, or spending time with family and friends. The existence of Zen Mode actually comes from one of our OnePlus Open Ears forums, which is a face-to-face forum between OnePlus employees and OnePlus fans for user pain points.
The app has achieved great success and expanded from OnePlus users to the Android community. It has received a 4.1 star rating from more than 48,000 users on Google Play. View here.
Now, Zen Mode provides a group function, you can gather the whole family together, so that everyone can enjoy some screen free time.
Interviewer: What can you tell us about the new application OnePlus Clipt?
twist: OnePlus Clip art Put your entire equipment assembly together to improve work efficiency. By allowing you to copy and paste from one device to another, Clipt allows you to seamlessly connect all devices together in a few seconds. You can sync your texts, photos, and files for sharing in a few seconds. Clipt will leave behind the days of emailing pictures between different platforms. Most importantly, it is completely free and you can use it at the same time Google play with Chrome Web Store. Log in to two or more devices to view magic.
The app was launched in May 2021, and currently has 4.1 star downloads on Google Play and 90,000 downloads. View here.
Interviewer: Another popular application recently: How about WellPaper?
Thanks: Well paper It is a digital health tool, its design is the same as Zen Mode, but it all depends on your usage. It works by creating live wallpapers for your daily use. It compares the time spent in six categories throughout the day in social, communication, and gaming, resulting in beautiful and unique visualizations. OneLab has crafted WellPaper as an alternative way to follow the time you spend on social media and other applications. No two days look the same, but it should help you understand browsing statistics.
The app was launched in May 2021, has a 4.0-star rating, and has 200,000 downloads on Google Play. View here.
